“All doors open to courtesy.”- Thomas Fuller
Literally this quotation best described my impression after I opened and entered the elegant doors of Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. I am a Catholic yet open to ideas and wish to learn about it. The Grand mosque and the people are welcoming and polite, they accept people of different faith. Guests of course must observe the culture and practices such as wearing of Abaya for women to show respect.
The design of the mosque has been inspired by Moorish and Mughal architecture. The glass doors captured my interest aside from the archways, minarets and the elegant and comfortable carpet!
For some reason I am greatly attracted to doors, gates or any forms of entrance. Doors catch my fancy and most often makes me wonder and think of what’s hidden behind it. They provide refuge and are the silent witness of whatever is transpiring behind them.
The photo was taken from the inside of the Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque. It sends a message that the outside world is big, colourful and it offers a lot of niceties in life.
