Showing Appreciation on Gift Received

Last Christmas I received gifts from family members, friends, colleagues and business partners. Now before I tell you guys what is one of those gifts I received, I’d like to share to you a secret. I cannot wait to open gifts given to me, why? Because I am always excited about gifts and the thought that comes with it. My friends and colleagues knows about it because they always see me open gifts once I lay my hand on it πŸ˜‚

On the last day of work last December, I thought I will no longer receive a gift from my colleagues because most of them have given out their gifts. I said most, but not all😜 Well hoping few more wrapped boxes will be placed on my table haha

Now, there is this former subordinate of mine who is a Generation Z baby and he’s one of my junior staff that I like because he’s cool and is really good on managing me his former boss (well I taught him how to manage my expectations). During lunch he was just resting in his work station and was watching me do my usual lunch routine. So I left for lunch and everyone were taking a nap while the office lights were turned off.

When I came back my former staff left the office for fieldwork and placed something on top of my laptop. It was a white, fashionable baseball cap and with a post-it note that says “Merry Christmas Ma’am! I hope you like my gift!” …. upon seeing this I was bursting with laughter!!! I mean come-on!!! Who wouldn’t get surprised with that??? I was surprised yes! Why? Because of his ideas to (1) not wrapped the gift since he knew I can’t wait till Christmas to unwrap it anyway and (2) the baseball cap was really fashionable and he knew more or less that when I’m not wearing corporate dress I’m laid back.

I was really touched by his gesture, the baseball maybe inexpensive but I don’t mind. I value every little gift given to me and mind you I do not recycle gifts, if it is given to me I consider it as a sacred propertyπŸ€ͺ❀️

Since he left already and I can’t say Thank You personally, I came up with a very unique way of showing my appreciation. Guess what I did…….

Tadahhhhhh…….. I sent him series of Viber Photo messages of me posing like a model while wearing my fashionable K-pop inspired baseball cap!!!! Also told him that I will use it. Here are some of the photos that I am shamelessly sharing hahaha…

I have mastered the art of selfie and he would always chuckle when he sees me doing selfie so sent him this …. look at the text on the cap .. it is lovely indeed! And more…oh he would always notice and comment on my OOTD too so I sent these……poses with a little bit of an attitude… πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

What were his reactions…. to many emojis like these πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ actually he was laughing with my way of saying Thank You and showing my appreciation.

So guys the lesson here is that no matter how small, inexpensive or simple the gift is, we should always bear in mind that the giver spent time and effort to think about it. It’s the thought that counts and not the value of the gift. Therefore we should always show our appreciation by saying Thank You the least or we can be more creative and expressive by writing a thank you note, give back if you want or on my part sending photo messages to show how much I love the gift!!

By this time I imagine you laughing at my Anecdote and tip. These are my purpose of sharing this story and I am glad you are enjoying!!!

Have a great Monday, guys and cheers!!!!
