There’s no place like home, except the beach. Do you agree? The beach is one place that give me solace aside from my own home. So when life becomes too noisy, busy and stressful, I go to my comfort place somewhere near our city.
One of the dive resort that I frequent is Mayumi Resorts located in Barangay Bagalangit, Mabini, Batangas. The resort is just 1.5 hours away from Molino, Bacoor, Cavite where I reside. Travel time varies depending on where you are coming from and mode of transportation. If you have a car and coming from Metro Manila simply take SLEX and then STAR Tollway and exit at Batangas City. Once in Batangas city take the Batangas City-Bauan Bypass Road this will lead you to Bauan and then Mabini.
If you are taking the public transport- take the bus in Alabang going to Batangas City, then jeepney to Anilao, Mabini. From Anilao, Mabini ride a tricycle going to Mayumi, tricycle fare is quite expensive though, Php300 one way. I would understand since the resort is more or less 5.5 kms away from Anilao.
The resort is about 500m away from the main road and you will have to climb down the stairs with at least 150 steps to reach the reception area. So warning to those with weak knees and weak lungs, its going to be a challenging 2-3 minutes walk down the cemented pathway, however you will be rewarded by breathtaking view of the sea though, so its worth the climb š
Being a dive resort- Mayumi is less busier compared to other resorts in the area. They have a maximum capacity and once booked they no longer accept guests for overnight stay. Most of the time I just go on day tour to snorkel- so once the divers left, the place is entirely mine. This I love most- it just so quiet and peaceful.
The resort is facing Verde Island Passage as well as Marikaban and Sombrero Islands. Here is the location for reference https://goo.gl/maps/vHzLF9c3dHmroL5S9
Here are some photos by the beach front and from here you will see the two islands I’ve mentioned.
The Dive Shop rents snorkeling and diving gears. They also also offer dive lessons to those interested and open water lesson is done in front of the resort. The beach front does look shallow but don’t trust my photos, the area at the end of the pier is deep and this is where I snorkel. The corals are alive, lots of different types of fish, so you won’t get disappointed.
If you are lucky, the resident sea turtle in this Bay might even show itself. On my first first visit I was told that there are sea turtles- so I call on the universe and claimed that I will meet the lovely creature. I wasn’t disappointed, while snorkeling at around 2pm…it swam in front of me, stopped and I feel like it was inviting me to play and follow her. So I did- i kept on swimming, swimming, swimming like Dory ha ha while following her. I didn’t realised I was so far away from the pier until I surfaced and checked where I was.
